Aimed at strengthening capacities and contributing to achieving concrete results for the project, Business Cooperation and Skills Improvement for the Development of Outdoor Tourism," , two training modules for Geographical Information Systems (GIS) have been held in Podgorica. This technical training will assist with concrete objectives of the project, which include the preparation of a tourist map for the cross-border project area,
The first module for Croatian participants was held from September 19th to 23rd and for Montenegrin participants from September 26th to 30th. At this event, all 19 participants were successfully introduced with GIS technology through lectures about Quantum GIS software, and hands-on practical work.
The second (advanced) module was attended together by Croatian and Montenegrin groups, and was held in Podgorica from October 24th to 28th. This joint workshop was attended by 18 participants who were working on concrete tasks, such as the conversion of available data into adequate forms, vectorization, etc. In this manner, they contributed to the creation of the GIS Database and preparation for the thematic map of the project. This training resulted in acquired knowledge, exchanged experience, and a GIS Database designed jointly by Croatian and Montenegrin participants. These achieved results will lead to further absorption of GIS knowledge and contribute to the development of sustainable tourism.
After this successful training, project partners will continue to implement further activities in line with detailed plans, which will ultimately result in the printing of a tourist map of the cross-border project area.
