Sea Kayak Guide Training

     Sea kayak guide training within the project "Business Cooperation and Skills Improvement for the Development of Outdoor Tourism" was held in Bijela from October 1st to 5th, 2011.

This successfully organized five day training was realized by the Croatian organization Karzen & Karzen Ltd.
The training covered topics such as:

• Teaching theoretical concepts in sea kayaking and kayak equipment
• Teaching sea kayak security elements
• Responsibilities of sea kayak guide
• Tour planning
• Security and working within a group
• Navigation
• Paddling techniques (basic and advanced)
• Rescue techniques
• Teaching fundamental aspects in biodiversity theory

This training was attended by 18 participants who are outdoor club members and whose job or interests are related to outdoor tourism on Montenegrin coast. They all passed the exam organized at the end of the training and received  the International Certificate of Sea Kayak Guide - Basic Level. Differences in their skills were shown by one, two or three stars.

The role of sea kayaking is becoming more commonly recognized in the touristic offer on the Montenegrin coast. Therefore, this training is the best way to contribute to strengthening the tour guide services for this  increasingly popular activity. Contact information for each participant will be sent to Montenegrin travel agencies specializing in outdoor tourism.
