TIME TRAVEL - MAR 2023 - SEP 2025

The project "Time Travel - A Cultural Renaissance from Lake Skadar to Kosovo" is aimed at strengthening cultural tourism across Montenegro and Kosovo. It is funded by the European Union through the IPA II Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Montenegro-Kosovo (2014-2020). With a total budget of EUR 404,235.73, the EU contributes 85% of the funding, while the Ministry of Public Administration and Digital Society of Montenegro co-finances the Montenegrin component with EUR 24,335.00.

The Community Development Fund (CDF) from Kosovo is the lead partner on the project. Project partners include the Municipality of Klina (Kosovo), the Center for Sustainable Tourism Initiatives - CSTI (Montenegro), and the National Tourism Organization of Montenegro - NTO.

The overall objective of the project is to improve the quality and diversity of tourism products based on the cultural and natural heritage in the border areas of Montenegro and Kosovo.The specific goal is to develop a cross-border thematic tourism offer that protects, interprets, and promotes heritage sites through a modern model of thematic trails and joint marketing strategies.

Key expected results:
- Establishment of a cross-border tourism cluster with the aim of creating a recognizable thematic tourism offer, "TIME TRAVEL", which connects five key cultural heritage sites in Kosovo with five sites in Montenegro (Rožaje, Petnjica, Medun, Ckla, and Svach);
- Installation of small-scale infrastructure to improve access and visitor experience (interpretive panels, tourist signage, benches);
- Capacity-building of target groups in managing cultural tourism and leveraging its socio-economic potential;
- Joint promotional and marketing campaigns aimed at positioning the "Time Travel" trails on the regional tourism map.

Target groups include local and regional authorities (3 municipalities in Kosovo and 5 in Montenegro), tourism organizations, cultural heritage institutions, private tourism operators (agencies, bloggers, media, associations), rural households, unemployed individuals, and cultural and folklore groups.
