Participation in the Ministry of Tourism Workshop – 25 December 2007

CSTI participated in defining the National Network of hiking and biking trails during this workshop. The initial selection process resulted in 37 biking trails connected to nearly 100 attractions and 69 hiking trails equally distributed over 9 regions as well as 2 top-quality biking and hiking trails for tour operators (7 day and 10 day trips).

In addition, CSTI, together with the working group members agreed on the need for trail safety regulations to secure dangerous sections as well as a provision stipulating that trails be used at the sole responsibility of the cyclists.

In the recent period, CSTI has also contributed to working groups (together with the Directorate for Small and Medium Enterprises) on establishing a credit line for tourism service providers. The group's proposal was submitted to the government late in December 2007 and the new credit line will be announced at the end of March.

CSTI will follow up on the adoption of new legislation regulating issues concerning the trail records: setting up a registry of trails; trail markings and maintenance; construction of new trails, etc. CSTI is looking forward to continuing its participation in the future plans for publishing the hiking and biking trail guides with "Bed and Bike" concepts.
